You might have heard about Fort Collins last year after it was rated in 2008 as one of the 10 best cities to live in the USA by Money Magazine. This is not surprising. Sunny weather, friendly people, and dedicated bike lanes make Fort Collins attractive for people to live there. Vaught Frye Ripley Design is a multidisciplinary design firm that is based in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Vaught Frye Ripley Design has a lot of build work in Fort Collins. One cannot walk a block without identifying a project that Frank Vaught and his team worked on. One of those projects is Cortina, which is located a block away from Vaught Frye Ripley Design office. As an infill site, it had many challenges. Nevertheless, Frank Vaught turned these challenges into opportunities. Canaletto's Sketchbook was used for architectural inspiration of this mixed-use building. Therefore, Italian style elements such as window boxes, oriels, shutters, a red tile roof, multi-level roofs, and warm earthy colors were implemented into the façade. Existing mature trees were preserved during the construction process. Old trees make this mixed-use building look like it was there for a very long time.
