How did this podcast get started? I am asked this from my friends and colleagues all of the time. They think it is the wildest idea.

It started a few years ago with the purchase of my first iPod. First, it was music followed by podcasts.  I became addicted to listening to all of the daily news on my iPod through podcasts. There are no interruptions, no advertising and I can select what I listen. I took podcasts to the gym, in my car and shopping. With time, I started adding professional podcasts to already existing news. It was an irreplaceable piece of information. I am able to get the latest trends in my industry in very short period of time while driving to work. Yes, you can get the same information from trade magazines and e-mail newsletters. But how much time do you have every day to sit down and read? Maybe you have an hour or two, if even that.

Recently, I started looking closely for podcasts related to urban design and planning. To my disappointment I could not find many. Then, an idea about the podcast popped up somewhere when I was on vacation in Alaska. Why not start this type of podcast myself? Why not have conversations with other professionals? That was the beginning.

This podcast is about the physical environment of cities. We will talk to professionals who are involved in shaping cities around the world. Projects will vary from small to large scale and sometimes we will talk about projects that will not be built. Now and then, we will have a podcast on a special topic but for most of the part, we will talk with professionals just like you who are working on a different range of projects every day.

I am planning to release a new podcast every two weeks and see how it goes. Share your projects with us. We would like to hear about your experiences and ideas. Please join us in this conversation.
