102. Ice Hotel 2010

Every year in November at Jukkasjärvi and Torne Rivers new construction begins of a magical building, the Ice Hotel. Arne Bergh, with his team, has been building ice hotels at that location for many years now. Every year there is a different building with new design and innovations, and a new name.

This year’s hotel has 60 guest rooms, a church, ice bar, main hall and other rooms. This is not your ordinary construction. Elements of the building have to be designed and sculpted by the individual artists. Artists from all over the world were selected by the committee. Weather could help or delay the construction of the hotel. This November was very good weather to start the construction.

Guests of the hotel can experience an unusual hotel environment and enjoy the northern lights.
