This podcast is a recording of the December 15th AIA Denver Urban Design Committee meeting.
Jeremy Nemeth, PhD, Assistant Professor of Planning & Design and Director of the Master of Urban Design program at the University of Colorado, Denver speaks about the school’s programs, and reaches out to those present as well as interested firms to create partnerships in the community.
Tim Geisler of Hyperform Design Co-op and Keo Frasier of Keos Marketing Group discuss their work to create a “Storefront Initiative” on the 16th Street Mall. Their proposal joins forces with the Downtown Denver Partnership and building owners on the downtown mall to fill currently empty storefronts (~20-25 locations) with graphic displays by different architectural firms. Themes for the displays are proposed and follow up with affiliated organizations are recommended.
Also in this meeting we discuss the FasTracks station area plan in progress for the National Western Stock Show site as well as options for the Elyria-Swansea Neighborhood Plan. Steve Nalley and Caryn Wenzara, AICP, planners for Denver’s Community Planning & Development Department discuss the latest options and the committee reviews a preliminary draft response.
