Urban Design Podcast got started in fall of 2009 by Arina Habich. Arina Habich is an urban designer with over 10 years of experience who saw a need for professionals around the world to share their experiences and learn about each other’s work in a more convenient way. Inspiration for the podcast format came from the business and financial news podcasts that are easily available for download from iTunes directly into your media player.
Urban Design Podcast is about the physical environment of cities. We talk to professionals who are involved in shaping cities around the world. Projects vary from small to large scale and sometimes we are talk about projects that are not built. Now and then, we producing a podcast on a special topic, but for most of the part, we talk with professionals just like you who are working on a different range of projects every day.
Originally, the podcast was designed for urban planners, architects, and landscape architects. Over the course of this radio show, GIS and art professionals, developers, planners, marketers, and transportation engineers joined us. There are no geographical borders for our listeners. We are currently broadcasting to over 95 countries around the world. You can see the geographical footprint on the map below. A new podcast episode is released for download on iTunes and our website each Wednesday.
It seems that every day we have less and less time to sit down and read professional magazines and newsletters. Maybe you have an hour or two, if even that. We do spend more time traveling and in transit between places. Therefore, we decided to go with an audio format. Each podcast episode is about 30 minutes long. Thirty minutes is also an average time spent commuting to and from work. You can get new and interesting information during your travel time to meetings or work. We hope that Urban Design Podcast will help you expand your horizons and learn something new each time.
